A surprise in my old draft card

Over the weekend I was poking through the knee-hole drawer of my desk and turned up my Selective Service Draft registration card. The date on the very worn card (required to carry for life(?) I guess) was August 5, 1954, the day I turned 18. No picture, but my physical description included hair (sigh!) color (then "dark brown"), eye color, etc. One item caught my attention - weight.

In that box there was a 3-digit number: 168 lb. Not too bad for a non-athlete (maybe even an un-athlete). I had entered my weight into the ipod as 178 lb several months ago, and about 4 weeks ago discovered that I was down to 170 lb. As of last night Sunday, October 12, my bathroom scale read 168 lb! I could hardly believe that after 54 years I was still essentially un-moved by the pleasures of ice cream, corn on the cob, roast beef, mother's pies and cookies . . . . . I do know that my waist size has not changed for at least 30 years - the clothes I can still wear are proof.

Now I am on the horns of a dilemma - do I go for the weight loss or leave well enough alone? I'm not wildly enthused about re-sizing or replacing two closets full of clothes! Decisions, decisions, decisions!!

I thought your memory and

I thought your memory and the thoughts it provoked were really interesting. It's not always about losing weight. It's about being healthy. If you are close to the healthy weight range for you height, then leave well enough alone.
